Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of school when her parents separated to go into Los Angeles to live with her mother. Even though she had financial difficulties and in the beginning, she made her acting debut acting as Rachel's Room's principal character. In 2002, she was awarded a Young Artist Award in 2002 for her portrayal as Murder on the streets of Greenwich of a 15-year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace went on to be awarded. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost TV show in 2004. She played the lead role for two seasons, and won a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace wanted to focus on film after starring opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. The actress starred on the screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 and Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. She reprised the role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series in the final two episodes, playing Shannon. She was in 2013 for the sixth episode of Californication. The role she plays is Faith as a girl who acts as a muse to the stars, and draws the eye from Hank Moody (David Duchovny). As a part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the younger sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her acting career started as a young teenager when she appeared in small parts in a few films directed from her father. Also, she worked alongside her brother on the 2001 cult film Donnie Darko. Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performances as the lead in the erotic romance comedy Secretary (2002) and the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which resulted in the Golden Globe Award nomination. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006, including World Trade Center she received wider recognition for playing Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child received her a nomination for an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Other roles she has played include Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller) and musicians in Frank (2014, drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) as well as the role of the Kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal began her career as a screenwriter and director in 2021 when she wrote and directed the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter.
